Traffic Control Box - Call for Art - Sept - Dec 2019
Hello all! As you may have seen, I hosted an art session in White Center a few weeks ago. Folx showed up to participate and create their designs for the traffic control boxes. A big thank you to those that showed up in that bipolar seattle weather! Due to my crazy work schedule, I will not be able to host another session, but I am still looking for submissions and will have the opportunity posted on 4Culture so that ANYONE in WA can submit an art design. This is not a competition, no fees to submit your work. Your work will be shown as long as its colorful and NOT offensive. If you'd like to submit your design, please email me at artbox1919@gmail.com. I will send you the PDF template so that you can either print it out or draw directly on it using any art/editing software such as Photoshop/Illustrator/Procreate etc. If you do not have access to a printer/scanner, please reach out so that I can assist!

Sept 2019 Lake City Mural
The first image shown is a concept sketch I did for an art call that I was chosen for and started in Lake City. The call was for an artist to paint the existing walls that were below an old Value Village building. There are some areas not shown in the photos and I am not doing the entire area besides the ramp and the area with the faces. I am ecstatic to be able to do this mural, I NEVER would of thought it would be happening this quickly in my art career, BUT i did speak it into existence and it happened. What a process and great opportunity to add this to my list of skills. I want to thank my friend Kendra for her endless support, & Chris and Mark for providing this opportunity to artists. I am almost done, kinda halfway there but its starting to rain again in Seattle. So lets hope for some more dry days!

August- Sept 2019 Community Engagement project: Beautification in White Center
4Culture funds a lot of great projects in the Seattle area and throughout WA. There is always some type of call that looks for artists to showcase their talents or get involved. Earlier this year there was a call to get funding for projects, and I knew I wanted to do a project for the community I grew up in (White Center) so I had been drafting up ideas of what I could possibly do. The inspiration for my project came from always passing by the ugly, tagged on Traffic Control Boxes for the intersections. I thought this could be a really great project to do while engaging the community and showcase their art skills and participation. The photo above is a draft of something that could be created, although I picture the participants coming up with their own designs based off patterns inspired by fabrics or multi- colored art you'd find in different textiles. The workshop will be coming soon and will be held in the White Center area. Stay TUNED!
July 2019 Urban Artworks: Teaching Artist
I recently worked with Kids Co at Graham Hill Elementary as a guest Teaching Artist for their Summer Programing. There I helped the students of various ages create their rough draft drawings into small mural that will be showcased on the outside of their playground.
May- June 2019 Commissioned Art:
WSCADV Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence
I will always be thankful for the opportunities that my fellow artists pass along to me. I was involved in this project which consisted of creating original illustrations, that to be added onto a family calendar. The text seen with the illustrations came from Dichos (Sayings) that were created to promote healthy, loving relationships with others and ones own self .These calendars will be distributed by WSCADV and their home visit teams .
2018 Nov- 2019 Feb City of Kent Traffic Control Boxes
Last winter in 2018, I applied to an art call that consisted of creating a design for a traffic control box that would be in Kent. Luckily my design and application was chosen, and was installed earlier this year 2019. You can find my box in kent, on E Smith St. Thank you to the City of Kent for creating these opportunities for emerging artists like myself.
